Exit of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland from the European Union: transition period granted
03/11/2020
Customers who use our services via NL-Moerdijk and NL-Rotterdam should note that a transition period until 31 December 2020 was agreed on the exit of the United Kingdom from the European Union on 31 January 2020.

EU law is in principle to continue to apply for the United Kingdom during this period, but it will no longer participate in the EU institutions. The United Kingdom will also remain a member of the EU internal market and customs union during this period. This means that customs documents for the transport of goods will not be required until the end of the transition period. Until that date passport and personal checks will continue to be made at frontiers as before; there is no requirement to obtain a visa.

Further information about the measures required at the end of the transition period and the exit of Great Britain and Northern Ireland will be provided in due course.

Further information about Brexit can be found on the pages of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWI): https://www.bmwi.de/Redaktion/DE/Artikel/Europa/brexit.html and on the website of the Rotterdam port system, Portbase: https://www.portbase.com/de/brexit/.
