Kombiverkehr combines with ferry operator TT-Line to offer internal Swedish connection between Trelleborg and Hallsberg for the first time
09/16/2019
  • Three departures per week and direction from 5 November 2019

(Frankfurt am Main, 16 September 2019) Kombiverkehr KG is cooperating closely with ferry operator
TT-Line to expand the European network with a direct train link between Trelleborg and Hallsberg.
This new service adds to the product range to and from northern Europe and is the first purely
domestic Swedish route. The first direct train will leave Trelleborg on 5 November 2019. The initial
schedule will have three departures per week and direction and allow connections to the TT-Line
ferries from Trelleborg to Lübeck Skandinavienkai, Rostock-Seehafen and Świnoujście (Swinemünde).
Once the service starts, trains will depart Trelleborg on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, leaving
Hallsberg on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Trelleborg also serves as a bundling point for many
shipments by customers of both companies: at present, customers can already reach the ports from
Germany and elsewhere in Europe thanks to numerous gateway connections. There is a connection
to Trelleborg via Hamburg or Lübeck Skandinavienkai from Duisburg, Ludwigshafen, Basel, Karlsruhe,
Cologne, Munich and Nuremberg, for instance. Forwarders and logistics companies which have their
transport to and from Trelleborg handled by other shipping companies can also book the new route.
With this new train product, the Frankfurt-based company is boosting its range of services to and from northern Europe within Europe’s largest intermodal network to 172 train departures every week.

“The synergy effects arising from the merger of the two product portfolios of Kombiverkehr and TTLine allow us to market the new Trelleborg service jointly,” explains Peter Dannewitz, Head of Sales at Kombiverkehr KG. Kombiverkehr’s forwarding customers previously had to use the intermodal options provided by other operators within Sweden for onward transport from Trelleborg. “The new product range means we can now offer an end-to-end service between Germany and central Sweden. We have now come up with an in-house solution that our customers expect and hope that this will open up the possibility of steady hinterland transport. It is an important step in Swedish services, given the background of the heightened demand for northern European routes we saw in the last financial year,” Dannewitz continues.

The train will cover the approximately 510 km-long rail route in around eight hours. From 2020 the
frequency of departures is set to be increased to five return trips per week. Further round trips will be
added if there is sufficient demand.
