Kombiverkehr KG expands Sweden product range
12/20/2023
  • Lübeck to Stockholm via Hallsberg and Norrköping from January
  • Double the options: by rail via the fixed link or end-to-end ferry and rail service

(Frankfurt/Main, 20 December 2023) Kombiverkehr KG is expanding its range of train products on services to and from Sweden. From 3 January 2024 the Lübeck Dänischburg CTL terminal will offer a direct train connection to Hallsberg and Stockholm in Sweden that any forwarder can book. Services will run to the Stockholm Norra (Rosersberg) terminal, located some 30 kilometres to the north of Stockholm. The same applies for a further new end-to-end internal Swedish connection for trailers and containers from the Port of Malmö via Norrköping to Stockholm and back. The Frankfurt-based company for freight forwarding and logistics is adding the combination of ferry from Lübeck-Skandinavienkai and rail from Malmö to its intermodal timetable from 15 January. With these new products, Kombiverkehr is boosting its terminal services in Sweden with the addition of Hallsberg, Norköpping and Rosersberg to the existing Göteborg, Malmö and Trelleborg terminals.

“The new connections demonstrate once again that we give our customers the flexibility they need when scheduling and shipping their consignments in services across Europe. The forwarder decides on the routing themselves; what we offer are the important services of direct transportation in a one-stop-shop process which includes shipping by ferry. That makes it easy to book intermodal transport for a trailer all the way from Barcelona to Stockholm, a distance of some 2,500 kilometres, saving more than four tonnes of CO2 emissions in the process,” says Armin Riedl, managing director of Kombiverkehr KG, highlighting two positive aspects of the new product range.

Services on the route via the fixed link will run in both directions on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The trains between Malmö and Stockholm and the ferry services to and from Lübeck are likewise offered three times a week in each direction: northwards on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, and southwards on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Dangerous goods can be transported, except for dangerous goods of classes 1 and 7. Waste can also be carried on the specified routes by agreement. There are no restrictions in respect of loading unit profiles, which means trailers with a P400 profile are also allowed on both routes.

From Lübeck there are connecting services to Basel, Duisburg, Hanover, Ludwigshafen, Cologne and Munich. Internationally, terminals in Spain, France, Switzerland, Italy, Poland, Slovenia, the Czech Republic, Greece and Turkey can be reached in gateway services.

Both new products are offered in partnership with DB Cargo Scandinavia. The cooperation with Finnlines allows ferry services between Lübeck and Malmö to be included in end-to-end bookings.

Frankfurt-based Kombiverkehr KG is starting 2024 with no less than two new routes to and from Sweden. From Lübeck Dänischburg CTL services to Stockholm and back will take the fixed link, from Lübeck-Skandinavienkai the ferry and train. These services will start on 3 and 15 January respectively.
